Amex Offers $13.98 in Netflix Credits – $6.99 Back Per $6.99 Spent

American Express is targeting select cardholders with a new limited-time offer that can score statement credits when signing up for a Netflix subscription.

The Offer

American Express is sending out an offer to enroll eligible cards for a $6.99 statement credit when you spend $6.99 or more when signing up for Netflix. The offer has a limit of 2 total statement credits for a maximum savings of $13.98. The offer is valid on Netflix.com subscriptions until January 31, 2024.

To take advantage you must:

  • Log in to their Amex account to add the offer to an eligible card
  • Use the same added card to purchase a Netflix subscription for $6.99 or more

The credits will then automatically apply to the next 1-2 billing statements.

Fine Print and Details

There are a few key details to note in the fine print:

  • Offer only valid when billed directly by Netflix on netflix.com, not third-party providers
  • Automatically renewing subscriptions will continue after the offer unless paused, canceled, or changed
  • Only valid on purchases in US dollars

So the credits apply to your initial 1-2 months only.

Our Verdict

This new Netflix offer provides an interesting opportunity to save on a streaming service that has rarely offered promotions directly.

Being able to score a free month or two of Netflix is a nice perk, especially if you’ve been curious to try it out. However, keep in mind that the subscription will start auto-renewing at full price unless action is taken.

For long-time Netflix subscribers paying month-to-month already, taking advantage just locks in some guaranteed account credits.
